Accept Your Child for Who they Are

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

We all have different expectations before we have children. We fantasize, dream, and say, "I'm going to..." or "I would never do that..." Then your child is born and reality sets in. Before you know it none of the pre-conceived notions you have about parenthood are a reality. It's not like you imagined! You never thought this could happen to you when you had children!

Welcome to life. A new life, not yours. This little bundle of joy you created and invited into your life is something far different than you. They may look like you or not but they have their own minds, likes, dislikes, tempers, and personalities. It's time to embrace what they have not the have nots.

One of the ways to do this is observe what they are doing and you might learn something. For yourself and through their eyes. Their experience with making cookies may not be what yours is. In fact, they may be allergic to chocolate and you can bake your favorite cookies. Make new cooking adventures.

Did you ever wonder why there's always an odd number of all girls in a family? They tried one more time for that little boy. Dad had a 5th girl, then a sixth. Mom said NO MORE. Dad it's time to embrace your feminine side and give in to the things most girls love, not all, but most.
