SOS Trained

SOS means Sequential Oral Sensory.

The SOS  Feeding program by Toomey and Associates is a  program that uses the child's real life circumstances for assessing and treating  feeding and weight/growth difficulties.

Psychology, pediatrics, occupational therapy, dietetics, and speech-language pathology practices are implemented in conjunction with  integration of sensory, motor, oral, behavioral/learning, medical, and nutritional factors. This fully encompasses the scope for assessment and management of kids with feeding/growth problems. This approach is grounded philosophically in the stages and skills of feeding/eating typically in developing children.

The theory and methods used at The Feeding Clinic at STAR Institute were  developed by Dr. Kay Toomey  over 30 years of work with children who have difficulty with feeding and eating.

The program, called the SOS (Sequential-Oral-Sensory) Approach to Feeding, is taught by Dr. Toomey and her team worldwide.
